If you wanted to derail the momentum behind right wing populism and waste the energy and resources of its most influential and enthusiastic figures (while perhaps also leading them into a Charlottesville-style honeypot), starting a third party just before an election as a symbolic act of defiance would be a pretty good way to do it.
Given the Tucker Carlson-esque trajectory of the GOP base and our ongoing demographic crisis, one can’t help but wonder whether attempts to further split the white vote are being made in good faith.
